Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins.
Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.
This course has a pre-requisite of SISSS00118 Sports Trainer Level 1 which must be completed prior to undertaking this unit of competency

The units have the following recommended renewal periods:

- PUAEME007 – Provide emergency care for suspected spinal injury – Not applicable

Performance tasks and practical scenarios:
- Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of bag-valve-masks, oxygen equipment, an
- AED and placing the casualty into the recovery position)
- Perform CPR on an infant
- Manage a casualty with a life-threatening bleed and provide oxygen
- Maintain resuscitation equipment
- Assist a conscious casualty with suspected spinal injury into supine position
- Manage an unconscious breathing casualty with suspected spinal injury
- Manage an unconscious non-breathing casualty with suspected spinal injury
- Two (2) pain management and handover to paramedics scenarios (Options include:
- Aspirin, Paracetamol, Ibuprofen, Methoxyflurane or Entonox)
Documentation
- First aid incident report forms
- Drug register log
Theory assessment
A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.
